Detailed late 19th Century atlas map showing London south of the River Thames. From Waterloo, Westminster, Lambeth, west through Bermondsey and Southwark on to Limehouse and Wapping. The map extends south to show Vauxhall, Stockwell, Peckham, Walworth, Camberwell, Nunhead, New Cross and Deptford.

The map labels important churches, palaces, public parks and government buildings such as the Houses of Parliament.



Interesting landmarks on the map include Bethlehem Lunatic Asylum or 'Bedlam' (the modern day site of the Imperial War Museum, established in 1936); and the former Millbank Prison is now marked as the Tate [Britain] Gallery, which opened to the public in 1897.
