A Chart of the Track of the Scarborough on her Homeward Passage
This unusual chart shows the track of the transport ship Scarborough after her participation in the voyage of the First Fleet to Port Jackson.
The importance of this chart is apparent in its record of multiple islands as the ship sails north. This is the first European cartographic record of the Gilbert and Marshall Islands. The latter were originally named Lord Musgrave's range but later were re-named after their discoverer. [AUNZ2802]
