Melanesia
Melanesia, including Fiji, the Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, and Vanuatu. From a paper published in the Journal of the Royal Geographical Society by William Halse Rivers Rivers detailing his 1898 expedition to the Torres Strait and Melanesia. Small insets of San Cristobal and Eddystone (now Simbo Island), both part of the Solomon Islands.
Rivers was a psychologist and anthropologist who is best know for treating victims of shellshock after the First World War. His most famous patient was the poet Siegfried Sassoon with whom he became good friends.
