Karte des Kaukasus
Very detailed German language map of the Caucasus based on the latest surveys of the Russian General Staff. Separately issued folding map.
Superbly detailed map of the Caucasus including Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and part of Turkey. It is based on the military surveys of the Russian Imperial General Staff and published by the venerable firm of Simon Schropp and Co. This map pre-dates the important surveys by Kiepert in the area but it is very likely that he would have consulted maps like these before his travels.
This is an updated and revised edition of the 1842 map, issued in 1846 with revisions by Heinz Mahlmann. Comparison between the two maps shows substantial additions in this later issue.
This example of the bears the label of Edward Stanford, showing that it was for sale in their commercial catalogue.
Original colour. [RUS2666]
