Carte des Voies de Communicaion de la Russie d'Europe et des Etats Voisins
A substantial folding wall map of European Russia and Eastern Europe published during the Crimean War by the royal geographer to Emperor Napoleon III of France. The map is designed to show the communication routes, namely post roads, railways, rivers, and canals. This was valuable wartime information as it could help track troop movements or calculate how long information would take to transmit from the theatre of war in the east back to France. Original colour. [Folded]
