Hispalensis Conventvs Delineatio
Splendid Dutch Golden Age map of the historical province of Seville, extending from Ayamonte to Cadiz in western Andalusia. Cities and towns are marked in red and there are several large, strapwork cartouches. Ships and sea monsters adorn the coast.
French descriptive text on the verso proclaims the region as one of the most important in Spain with phrases such as "This diocese or territory is of all regions and territories in Spain rightly considered to be the most fortunate one, both with regard to the multitude and civility of its inhabitants, and because of its wealth and the abundance of all things."
Original hand-colour. [SP1917]
