Londini Angliae Regni Metropolis Delineatio Accuratissima
A superbly detailed map of London after Johanes de Ram, with an index of important streets and buildings. This map was published in the Netherlands to celebrate the ascent and reign of William III and Mary II as King and Queen of Great Britain.
The view below the map of London is of Westwood house, bought by John de Coussmaker in 1720. A native of the Low Countries. Tradition has it that he followed in the train of William of Orange who took the throne in 1688. Westwood House is here portrayed as an encampment for those that had joined William's side during the Glorious Revolution. Close examination shows miniature figures practising various forms of combat, including sword fighting.
