Poland with its Dismemberments and Prussia

Miniature map of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania showing how the country was divided between Russia, Prussia, and Austria after the three late-18th century Partitions. Territory lost to Prussia is outlined in pink, land ceded to Austria is in green, and land annexed by Russia is in yellow. This map was published shortly after the final Partition in 1795. Even though Poland would continue to appear on maps throughout the 19th century, particularly those published in England and the United States where Polish sympathy was strong, Poland ould not reappear as an independent nation until after the First World War.
