This map was published during a time known as the English Wars (1801-1814), and as part of the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, Denmark was at war with Great Britain. The first conflict between the two powers was the Battle of Copenhagen (1801) which resulted in a British-Swedish victory against Denmark-Norway who had formed an alliance with France.

Fine original hand-colour. [SCAN2537]
