Carte de Trois Arabies
This is one of the most important 17th-century maps of the Arabian Peninsula, and one of the first to name Oman.
It was published in Paris and comprehensively overhauled the shape of Arabia by including new information provided by French and Dutch mariners who now regularly sailed to India and beyond.
The influence of this piece was such that it was used as a template for maps of the Arabian Peninsula for the next half a century.
Faint original hand-colour. [MEAST4632]
