A Map of the Coast of Coromandel from the River Gadevari , to Cape Coromin

Coromandel coast in south east India (now part of the Tamil Nadu state) and Sri Lanka.



Sri Lanka is labelled "Selen-Diva" (meaning the Island of Selen or Seren) named after the legendary Arab king and subsequently deriving from the early Arabic name for the country.



Marked are the marching routes of the British troops from of Tritchinapoly to Tinevelly during 1755, and the route from Ndoor to Conjeveram by Lieutenant Colonel Caillaud in 1762 during the Seven Years' War.



During the time of the British Raj, John Caillaud (1726 - 1812) was the Commander-in-Chief in British India, succeeding Major-General Robert Clive.



The map also features the mythical "Adam's Bridge" also known as "Rama's Bridge". A chain of shoals between the Indian subcontinent and Sri Lanka.
