Admiralty Chart of Western Scotland from Ardnamurchan to the Summer Isles with its main focus on the Isle of Skye. Based on an initial survey performed in 1866 but corrected to 1882. Part of the Admiralty survey of the Western Isles under the superintendence of Commander, later Captain Otter.
Commander Otter ultimately became an Admiral but for the purposes of cartography his career is notable as the officer in charge of the Admiralty Survey of Western Scotland and the use of H.M.S. Porcupine as the ship to lay first Transatlantic telegraph cable to Newfoundland under his command. SL [SCOT1719]
