Vintage city plan of Karachi, made when the city was the capital of the newly established nation of Pakistan.


The foundational survey for Karachi was first done in 1929, under the Survey of India. There were four editions of this survey. In 1948-9 a new survey was made under the authority of the newly established Survey of Pakistan under the then Surveyor General, Col. C.A.K Innes Wilson. This was most likely done to reflect the new coastline and waterline after the catastrophic Karachi Tsunami of 1945, the largest tidal wave recorded in that part of the Arabian Sea.
