Separately issued folding map of Boston published to promote the new infrastructure as well as the attractions of the city for the visitor.
This map has a long publishing history and was published in several sizes. The holder of the first copyright was Tilly Haynes, mentioned on the map, in 1883. Haynes was the proprietor of the United States Hotel and it is likely this was a marketing tool for his business. It was initially lithographed by George H. Walker. This example of the map bears a renewal of the copyright in 1894 and 1897 but this time by Walker.
We can trace examples to 1918 with additional information.
Original colour. [USA9561]
