Late-19th century tourist map of Boston published to assist visitors to the 14th International Christian Endeavor Convention in 1895. The International Society of Christian Endeavor was founded in 1881 by Francis Edward Clark to encourage Christian youths to contribute to the good of the world and the church in a meaningful way. Nationwide conventions were held on an annual basis and were soon followed by international conventions as the movement spread abroad.
The map extends as far south as Dorchester and as far west as Brookline. Street car routes are marked with red lines, and there is an index of churches, hotels, and places of historic interest in the lower-right corner. These are also noted on the map in red along with railway stations and steamer lines.
