This rare, separately issued ephemeral map was issued to illustrate the growth of the oil industry in the southwestern United States. The focus of the map is on Oklahoma and Texas with the bulk of oil discoveries established in that area. New Mexico shows indications of oil wells, Arkansas has very few fields but Louisiana shows several fields, especially on its Gulf coast. The map also indicates gas fields and a burgeoning network of pipelines.

This is a fascinating piece of early history recording oil exploration and commerce.
