Carte Generale des Etats-Unis Mexicains et des Provinces-Unies de L'Amerique Centrale
Mexico and the Southwestern USA, including Texas, California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado.
This is one of the first maps to recognize Mexico's declaration of independence from Spain and to show the nation as fully independent. Large inset map of Central America.
Though the map is signed by Adrien Brue and dated 1825, the stamp in the lower-left corner confirms that example was published later (in 1835) by Charles Picquet. On Brue's death Picquet acquired all of his copperplates and used them to republish the Atlas Universel de Geographie, Psysique, Politique et Historique, Ancienne et Moderne in several further editions.
Original hand-colour. [USA8983]
