Japan, Mandshuria, the Kurile Isles &c.
Japan, Korea, Manchuria, and the coast of Siberia. Small inset map of the port of Nagasaki. With vignettes of Japanese costume and a view of Shimonoseki.
The geographical shape of Japan is taken from the map published by the Society of Useful Knowledge. Fullarton also makes references to Siebold, (Philip Franz Balthasar von Siebold) a German doctor, traveller and botanist who worked for the Dutch in Deshima from 1823 to his expulsion in 1829; the other source mentioned is Krusenstern (Adam Johann von Krusenstern) who led the first Russian circumnavigation of the world 1803-6.
