RGS map published to show the journey and exploration of Theodore and Mabel Bent on their trip to the ruins of Great Zimbabwe through modern Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
The Bents were intrepid travellers who had already made journeys to the eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, and Arabia before setting out to Africa. They were following in the footsteps of the German explorer Kark Mauch, who discovered the ruins of Great Zimbabwe but insisted that he had discovered the lost city of Ophir, biblically the source of the gold of the Queen of Sheba.
The map covers parts of the modern contries of Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Original colour. [AFR6298]
