Separately issued folding map showing a military survey of the Kenya Colony, now modern Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda.
These surveys conducted by the Geographical Section, General Staff were the most accurate of their time, although often they were also the only ones ever conducted of these regions. The map stretches from northern Lake Nyasa (now Lake Malawi) in the south to southern Lake Rudolf (now Lake Turkana) in the north; east west, the map stretches from the Indian Ocean coast to Lake Tanganyika in the west. Details include multiple railways built by both the British and the Germans, multiple tribal names, local political divisions such as provinces and districts as well as physical geography, such as marshes and plains. The height of the landscape is also scaled by colour.
A list on the lower right margin notes the sources used to compile this map, including several German maps used for modern Tanzania, formerly German East Africa. Printed colour. Folded. [AFR5995]
