A Chart of the Islands discover'd in the Neighbourhood of Otaheite, in the Course of several Voyages round the World
A sketch map of the islands of French Polynesia, including Tahiti and Bora Bora, showing the tracks of the English explorers Byron, Wallis, Carteret, and Cook in 1765, 1767, and 1769. This map was published in an English edition of Cook's Voyages to illustrate part of Cook's first voyage across the Pacific. Whilst in Tahiti, Cook observed the 1769 transit of Venus, one of the principal aims of his first voyage. Another, more detailed, map of the island of Tahiti also appears in Cook's Voyages based on surveys undertaken whilst waiting for the transit of Venus to occur.
