George Bickham's unusual and imagined bird's-eye view map of London as if viewed from the gardens of Hampton Court Palace. Chelsea, Kensington, Hampstead, Islington, and many other small villages appear dotted across the landscape in the background of the scene. A golden sun rises above St Paul's and the City.

This is one of 43 English county maps to appear in Bickham's unique atlas, 'The British Monarchy: Or, a new chronographical description of all the dominions subject to the King of Great Britain'. Each of these county maps are represented in a similar bird's-eye view style as if the reader were seeing the entire county laid about before them like theatre scenery. First published as a complete atlas in 1755, this specific example is from the 1796 edition of the atlas.
