A vintage travel poster published by Great Western Railways to advertise services to London. The poster features an aerial view from Trafalgar Square to St. Paul's along the Strand.

This is one of a pair of posters designed by the artist Ernest Coffin for Great Western Railways. While this one looks eastwards towards the city, the other looks westwards towards Hyde Park and Paddington Station, GWR's main London terminus.

Coffin cleverly leaves all of the city's architecture uncoloured, employing colour only on the 'living details', such as buses, cars, fountains, green spaces, and, perhaps most conspicuously of all, the national flags of the Commonwealth nations with colonial office buildings in this area.
