Rare separately issued wall map of the city of Bradford, segmented and backed on linen.
This grand wall map of Bradford was published while the city was considered to be the wool capital of the world. It was one of the great successes of the First Industrial Revolution and despite the economic slowdown of the 1830s, by the date of the publication of this map, it had regained much of its economic might.
This map was issued in one edition, the present, but it was also used as a source for another plan of the city as part of the Post Office Directory.
It seems to be extremely rare. We have only been able to trace two institutional examples, one at the University of Leeds Library and the other at the West Yorkshire Archives. The British Library lists a map of Bradford by the lithographer S. O. Bailey but with a different title and published in 1905.
Original colour. Sold with its original boards. Folded. [YORKS1032]
