Attractive vintage folding map of London extending from Hendon, Wembley Park, Ealing and Richmond in the west, to Epping Forest, Stratford, Barking, and Greenwich in the east. In the north it shows Finchley, Muswell Hill, Tottenham and Walthamstow, and in the southernmost parts of the map it showsWimbledon, Streatham, and Crystal Palace. <br><br>Included in the upper left is an inset plan of West Ealing, and in the lower right an extension to Croydon. The map clearly marks roads, railways, train and Underground stations, and highlights hospitals, theatres and music halls.<br><br> <br><br><b><u>Geographia Ltd.</b></u> <br><br>Founded by Alexander Gross (originally Grosz) a Hungarian Jewish immigrant, in 1911, Geographia Ltd was a cartographic company specialising in street maps of British towns and cities. <br><br>Located on Fleet Street in London, Geographia Ltd was also responsible for publishing other map related items, such as terrestrial globes and ephemera such as board games and puzzles.

Gross's daughter, Phyllis Pearsall, was the creator of London's first comprehensive A - Z Atlas and Guide of London and Suburbs. The story goes that she got lost on her way to a party in Belgravia in 1935, when using a 16 years out-of-date Ordnance Survey map. It inspired her to work tirelessly on creating a street guide like no other.

Although successful, Geographia eventually went bankrupt and it is said that Scottish publishers Bartholomew & Sons purchased the company, and it now falls under the umbrella of the Collins Bartholomew Publishing house. However, the company were still able to publish under the Geographia name.

It is also believed that in the 1904's Gross re-launched the company in the United States as the Geographia Map Company. Geographia Map Company was briefly purchased in the late 1980's by Rand McNally, before being re-purchased by its original owners . They now reside in Hackensack, New Jersey, USA.
