News Map Southwest Pacific Vol. 3. No. 12.
Striking WW2-era terrain map of the Malay Peninsula, Singapore, and Sumatra published by the Education and Information Section of the US Army Forces in the Far East (USAFFE) to educate and inform the troops fighting in the Pacific. On the back of the map are news stories about the progress of the war to March, 1945, including the Japanese retreat in the Philippines and Allied victories against Germany in the Saar.
The map itself focuses on terrain and mobility, with railways, rivers, and roads marked. Roads are coloured according to their quality: surfaced, unsurfaced, motorable, jeepable, or tracks. The most important place names are marked in white for excellent clarity.
Printed colour. [SEAS5096]
