Attractive 10-inch vintage terrestrial globe on a cream, stepped Bakelite base with a stainless steel half meridian.

The globe shows the political boundaries of the world in the midst of the 1960s independence movements. The nations of West Africa, formerly part of French West Africa, are all shown as newly-independent nations. The British colonies in south and east Africa, however, have yet to declare their independence: this would not happen until the following year (1961).
