Separately issued vintage map of Lebanon published to promote the area as a tourist destination.

This large, rare piece of cartographic ephemera was issued during the country's heyday as a tourist destination when Beirut was renowned for its cosmopolitan atmosphere and became known as the "Paris of the Middle East". A small inset on the right shows a cable car travelling from a beach to the mountains, with a caption stating that a mere fifteen minute ride will take a person from the beach to the heights of the hills around Beirut.



Another larger inset on the lower right shows the influence of Lebanon and the Levant in ancient times, and another inset on the right lists local commodities. Finally, several small vignettes within the map mark the skiing areas. This was a very popular pastime among European travellers to Lebanon during the 1960s.
