Large map of India dividing the subcontinent into British territories (red), British subjects or protectorates (yellow), and independent states (green). Proposed railways are marked with blue lines.
Sidney Hall's New General Atlas was published in multiple editions between 1830 and c.1860 by various iterations of the Longman firm of publishers. Editions after Sidney's death in 1831 were often updated by Selina Hall to show contemporary developments. As this map shows railways which were not proposed until after Sidney's death, the map should probably be attributed to Selina; however, as Selina has chosen not to replace Sidney's imprint with her own on this map, we have followed suit.
Original hand-colour. [IC2691]
