Plan du Port de St. Francois
First issue of the earliest commercially available map of San Francisco Bay, issued in La Perouse's posthumous accounts of his voyages in the Pacific.
While La Perouse sailed past the Bay, his expedition did not survey it; instead, the basis of this map is taken from a chart the expedition purchased in Manila, from a well known Spanish navigator, Francisco Antonio Mourelle de la Rua. The chart was then incorporated into the "Atlas du Voyage de la Perouse." [USA9140]
