Iconic and rare 16 inch lunar globe presented in ruled brass gimbal horizon ring sat upon a wooden base.
"In 1969, to commemorate the Apollo 10 mission, Denoyer Geppert designed a special lunar globe that the astronauts of the mission presented to President Nixon. Contracted by NASA, Denoyer Geppert created the first complete Moon globe, using the Apollo 10 film footage and photographs of the far side of the moon. 200 first edition globes of this type were produced, the first of which went to President Nixon and four others to special members of Congress" (American Globe Preservation Society, AMGS Newsletter, March 2012, p 4).
