Exceedingly detailed map of southern India showing the political boundaries in the mid-19th century. British possessions are coloured in red, the Raja of Mysore is in purple, the Marhatta countries are in green, the Nizam's Dominions are in orange, the Raja of Satara is in yellow, and Travancore is in blue. The map's title cartouche lists Wyld's sources, which include Sir Archibald Campbell, former Governor of Madras, Colonel Kelly, Captain Pringle, and Colonel Allan. The map's geography is largely derived from a 1798 map by William Faden, whose business Wyld took over in 1823. However, Wyld has updated the boundaries to reflect the modern political situation.
