Of note is the date of the map, shown as Year III of the French Republic, after France decided to suspend the Julian calendar and reset to Year 0 after the Revolution. This reset to the French Republican Calendar was officially started in 1792 and lasted until 1805 when it was abolished by Napoleon.



Charles Francois Delamarche, a fervent Republican, republished many of his predecessor Robert de Vaugondy's maps after Vaugondy's death, with minor revisions. These include removing any mention of the King of France and replacing them with dedications to the Republic, as well as adopting the new dating system.
