The continent of Asia based on Robert Vaugondy's map of the mid-18th century.
This map of Asia was issued by Charles Francois Delamarche, successor to Robert de Vaugondy in 1794, during the French Revolution. The date of "An. III" refers to the Revolutionary decree that France would cease to use the Julian calendar as of 1792, when a new calendar, with 1792 being re-labelled as "An I ". This new calendar was used until 1806 until it was abolished by Napoleon. Original hand colour. [AS820]
