Map of the White Nile from Lardo to Urondogani
The course of the White Nile from Lake Victoria to Gondokoro (Juba), South Sudan. The routes of Speke, Grant and Baker are marked in red. British government stations are marked with red flags. Based on surveys by Colonel Gordon, better known as Gordon of Khartoum. His heroic, but ultimately doomed, defense of the city of Khartoum which lasted over a year made him one of the great heroes of the British colonial period.
