Afrique
The map divides Africa into states and colonies. The four colours used to fill the continent are not representative of controlling colonial powers over the regions. The distribution of colour seems merely for aesthetic reasons, with yellow, in its main part, representing the lesser known parts of the interior.
Monin here uses the newly discovered lithographic engraving process, which upheld his reputation as a progressive printer. He was also a member of La Sociéte de Géographie in Paris. Coloured. (SL) [AFR2779]
