Bird's eye view of Elizabethan London with later additions of the Stuart arms and 'new' Royal Exchange. London Coat Arms, keys, and annotations for 'modern' London. Historically known as the Agas map, after Ralph Agas a Suffolk cartographer surveyor to whom it is no longer attributed, the original map was issued in 1561. No examples survive and this map was based on a slightly modified version of 1633 with the Elizabethan arms replaced by the Stuart, and the Royal Exchange, which opened in 1571, now at the triangle created by the convergence of Threadneedle and Cornhill Streets.
