Tallis's attractive city plan of Bristol. The map was engraved by J. Rapkin as usual while the vignettes were the work of frequent collaborator H. Winkles.

Tallis's plans are often cited as some of the most attractive Victorian city plans available to the collector. They were published in a commemmorative atlas for the Great Exhibition of 1851. It was both a showcase for the country and a commercial enterprise for John Tallis and Company. The vignettes on the map included illustrations of Clifton, Bristol Cathedral and Broad Quay. [SOM527]
