The history of the this chart can be traced back to the surveys of the 1840s by John Turnbull Thomson made on behalf of the East Indian Survey. It was originally published in two sheets with most of Singapore Island shown on the western sheet. This survey was adopted by the British Admiralty who regularly updated it and also joined it into one sheet. Major revisions were included with added information from surveys made by the Federated Malay States Survey.
This particular example was first issued in this form in 1936, with a major revision in 1968 and small corrections to 1974. Original colour. [SEAS5343]
