Due to the far more complex nature of the city's bus network relative to the Underground network, the clean simplicity of the Tube map is not achieved, but there is still a great deal of elegance to the way the bus lines have been laid out and labelled. Lt. Col. W.R. Mansfield is credited as having designed the schematic layout and compiled the data.
The back of the map features an index and an exhaustive list of the stops along each of the bus routes. Daily services are numbered on the map in black, whilst weekend only routes are numbered in red. Railway and Underground stations are also marked on the map, though not as prominently as the bus stops. Parks and common land are shaded in a bright green.
