A pair of maps, printed on silk, charting the gold fields of the Limpopo Province in northern South Africa. Published prior to the Boer Wars during the independent Transvaal Republic. Known goldfields are shaded in yellow, and there is also a large area indicated as open for prospecting by government proclamation. Most of the area is divided into small, rectangular plots of land which would, presumably, have been available to purchase by settlers or prospectors. Claimed and settled areas are not outlined in red and their owners are generally named on the map.

The eastern sheet is far more worn than the western sheet, suggesting that the previous owner's interest was primarily in the gold fields east of Polokwane (Pietersburg). Certain parcels of land are marked with an 'x' in manuscript, a glimpse into how this map was used by its original owner.
