The three large vignettes at the bottom of the page show the Hermitage, Dairy House, and Merlin's Cave, three architectural follies built in the palace grounds by King George II and Queen Caroline for the amusement of visitors. These features were removed when King George III tasked the landscape gardener Capability Brown with remaking the grounds in the 1760s along more modern lines.
An index to the left of the map's grandiose title cartouche lists all of the park's buildings and features, including the deer park, kitchen garden, palace, summer house, and the amphitheatre. Strangely, the map is not dedicated to the Royal family who resided at Kew, but rather to Charles Lennox, Second Duke of Richmond, whose connection to Richmond appears to have been little more than titular as his primary residence was at Goodwood House in Sussex.
