Unusual map of Sussex first issued in 1681 by Richard Blome in his reduced work of county maps based on the atlas by John Speed.
The work was issued three separate times by Blome, indicating some commercial success. The last Blome edition was published in 1693, when the dedication on this map was changed to William Benge.
Upon the death of Blome in 1705, the plates were passed onto the publisher Thomas Taylor who re-issued the work in 1715-8 adding roads and distances onto the maps. This example is from the Taylor edition.
