Although titled Sweden and Norway, the map also shows Denmark and Finland, the latter an autonomous Duchy in the Russian Empire at this time.
The map was based on William Faden's large map of the same region first published in the late 18th century when the political situation was vastly different. James Wyld the Elder purchased and re-issed Faden's work under his own imprint. James Wyld the Younger, his son, continued this tradition although the maps were substantially revised and updated, both geographically and aesthetically.
