The third and final WW2 edition of the London Underground printed mostly in brown due to wartime restrictions on colour printing. The river, a simple border, and the locations of the mainline train stations are the only features printed in blue. These maps are variations on Hans Schleger’s design which had temporarily replaced Harry Beck’s iconic diagram starting in 1938. The 1941 Schleger monochrome map was his last contribution to Tube mapping before Beck’s colourful design returned in July of that year.
The back of the map features two close-up maps of Central London with Underground stations marked with clear, red 'X' symbols. An earlier Schleger 1939 Underground map featured the same maps on the back, but with each of the station entrances marked. Possibly to protect station entrances from being targeted by German bombers, their specific locations are no longer marked, only the approximate location of each station is noted.
