Paul E. Garbutt
101 x 127 cm
A vintage Quad Royal poster map of the London Underground in
1973. Designed by Paul Garbutt who produced maps for London Transport from
1964-1979. Garbutt was a keen disciple of Harry Beck’s design principles,
creating a number of attractive maps to rival even Beck himself. Garbutt’s
greatest contribution to the Tube map was his innovative bottle-shaped Circle
Line which is still in use today. This map
pre-dates the Jubilee Line, though the section from Charing Cross to
Baker Street is shown as ‘under construction’.
Printed colour. Framed. [LDN6282]
