Federico Armenter
51 x 70 cm
Although the map is based on surveys primarily made by the Academy, it is credited to Frederico and Ramon Armenter de Monasterio and features several improvements suggested by them to develop the city. The main ones seem to be an extension of the modern Gran Via de las Corts Catalanes stretching as far south as the Hospitalet de Llobregat and the other is an extension southwest of the Calle de Arguelles. The main architect of these improvements was Federico and in fact the extension of the Corts is named the "Proyecto de Urbanizacion del Sr. Armenter." As well as being a civil engineer, Federico was a noted astronomer while Ramon helped him in creating and publishing the map.
It is an important piece; several editions were issued between 1910-20 and we have been able to trace examples in institutional collections in Spain and the United States.
