This map shows the modern Aegean Sea, Greece, North Macedonia and western Turkey.
During the period when this map was published, these were the European dominions of the Ottoman Empire.
Geographically, the map was based on the scholarship of Johann Laurenberg, a Dutch scholar used by Dutch map makers. Shortly afterwards, Sanson would issue a much more detailed map of the same region on a larger format.
This example was issued in the 1679 German edition of the work by Johann Zunner.
