Samuel Arrowsmith
25 x 30 cm
The Arrowsmith firm, largely due to its friendly relationship with the Admiralty and the Colonial Office, was the first to add this new information to their maps. Dubai, at the time nothing more than a small fishing village of about 700 inhabitants, was deemed important enough by the Royal Navy to be included in their surveys and so it appears on this map as well. Curiously, Abu Dhabi does not feature on this map despite it being known to the British.
