A plan of the Battle of Culloden (16th April 1746), the final battle of the Jacobite Rebellion. After a battle which lasted just over an hour, almost 2,000 Jacobite soldiers out of a total force of 5-6,000 were killed, the Jacobite army was scattered, and the Rebellion collapsed.
The positions of the British and Scottish armies are shown in red and green, respectively, with infantry and cavalry also distinguished. The names of each of the regiments are given along with the names and positions of the commanders. The positions of both Charles Stuart, 'The Pretender', and Prince William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland are indicated with star symbols.
